Long Term Project Restoring a Hallicrafters Cyclone SR400 - all valve (no transistors), 200W out on a good day downhill. Pictured with a Shure 401A HiZ mike. The PS500a power supply / speaker weighs more than the transceiver !
Norfolk Island Trip 2010 I operated on Norfolk Island from Feb 4th to Feb 9th as VK2ACC/9. This was a "holiday style operation" with me operating for a couple of hours in the afternoons, normally from a park bench at our accomodation. I had an FT897D + Buddipole (40-6m) and PAR end-fed 40/20/10m long wire, so power was100 or 25W respectively. Total confirmed contacts were 60 over 6 days. My target was 20 so success was declared ! 1 x 6m, 2 x 10m, 3 x 40m and the rest on 20m. SSB contacts with: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, Hawaii, South Cook Islands, Guam and Argentina. I gave PSK31 a go and made a few contacts back into VK @ 25W.
