The Kansas Sesquicentennial QSO Party (150th anniversary of statehood) is on August 27-28. We'll celebrate with 1x1 callsign fun. Besides 19 plaques, thirteen mobiles, and all 105 counties active both CW and SSB, we have 33 1x1 calls spelling KANSAS and SUNFLOWER (the state flower) using the last letter of the call.Stations spelling either word who follow the directions in the rules, get a certificate. For the top 150 stations spelling both words (or one word if there are stamps left over), the certificate will include the 5 cent Amateur Radio stamp issued December 15, 1964 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ARRL. Since it will be possible to spell both words in CW, SSB and Digital, we added a Kansas Triple Play plaque as well.
