Hi, and welcome to my Bio Page. I have a broad base of interests to share with you. I have been a Firefighter for over 27 years belonging originally to Baldwin Ind. Fire Co. #1 and am now with Homestead Borough Volunteer Fire Company, www.homsteadvfd.org during which time I trained for both Fire Service and SCUBA diving for river rescue. In the process of training and doing recreational diving, I rose through the ranks and achieved Master Diver under the NAUI www.naui.org Recreational Programs and also achieved Instructor Certification under the Professional NAUI Program. I briefly taught SCUBA with Pittsburgh Scuba in Oakland and then opened my own training company, Atlantic Diving Service which did diver training and salvage of small submerged items on our rivers. I worked at Captain Slate's in the Key'sfor a few weeks over my vacation at his Atlantis Dive Center as crew on his dive boats. I am currently training the members of Homestead Fire Department weekly, preparing them for River Rescue in our Borough on the Monongahela River. I also have met the Firefighter I and Firefighter II levels of acreditation and Basic Vehicle Rescue (BVR) Technician for the State of Pennsylvania and National Professional Qualifications Board, and am also Firefighter I & Firefighter II Level Evaluator at the Allegheny County Fire Academy, andhave completed my First Responder Course under the PA Department Of Health medical program, and work monthly on maintaining my level of training. My wife and I belong to the Red Knights International Motorcycle Club, which is a Firefighters fraternal organization for those of us who enjoy motorcycling and promoting benefit rides for those in need. I am a Pennsylvania Chapter VIII past Secretary. www.redknights.org I have my Degree in Electrical Technology and have been employed for 33 years for an Automatic Controls Distributor in Pittsburgh, servicing the area HVACR, Plumbing, Government, and Industrial accounts in the Tri-State area. I have enjoyed scanning the local frequencies since the 70's when Rich K3RWN was a Fireman with Baldwin #1 and had "Scanning The Three Rivers" in publication. I got my "Ticket" October 12, 2005, and with the help of great "Elmers", KA3TDQ, K3FKI, and N3TTE made it to Extra Class Operator January 5th 2006 at the Allegheny County Emergency Operations Center in Point Breeze Pittsburgh. I have also been serving as a Volunteer Examiner for the Amatuer Tests at EOC. My XYL got her Call KB3TFM July 7th, 2009, and is an Amateur Extra after having also attended the Salvation Army / EOC Classes with Joe & Jerry. (I am very proud) We both are members of the Homestead Fire Company - ARC (KB3TFC) which is the Watch Desk Emergency Operations Center for the Borough Fire Company.
