. ._ ._ _ _ _ _ . ._ _ . _ _ _ _ _ . _ . W3ZIC is the club call of the Fort Venango Mike and Key Club, Inc. We are located in northwest Pennsylvania. Our club has a repeater system that has good coverage over most of northwest Pennsylvania. The system consists of three linked repeaters, one located in Franklin on a Frequency of 145.23 MHz.,one in Parker on a Frequency of 145.19 MHz.and one located in Pleasantville on a Frequency of 147.12 MHz. All repeaters are open repeaters and have a PL Tone of 186.2 Hz. Amateur radio started in the Oil City area around 1920 - 1922 when radio was in its infancy. The distinction of the first amateur probably goes to 8BUN, William Jennings of Oil City. Our radio club started in the mid 1930's picking up the present name Fort Venango Mike and Key Club around 1936. Local amateurs provided relay communication for the North Pole expeditions of Admiral Byrd as early as 1926. On the 3rd weekend of May and 1st weekend of October our club provides communications for the Marienville Fire company's Tour de Forest ATV ride in the Allegheny National Forest.
