Greetings from W4ALJ. First licensed in June, 1956 as KN6QGH, I have now enjoyed 52 plus years as a "ham." Prior calls are KN6QGH, WB6CPF and KN4LU. My present "vanity" call references my position, prior to retirement in January, 2002,as an Aministrative Law Judge(ALJ). While I love to work the "rare" ones, I am not a serious DX'er, contester, or paper chaser and enjoy more meeting and interacting with the many diverse and interesting people around the world who share my love of the hobby. I also enjoy experimenting with antennas,restoring old ham gear,and amateur meteorology. My present working conditions include ICOM 746 and Icom 756 Pro II HF/VHF tranceivers which drive, selectively, Heathkit SB-221 and Ameritron AL-811H amplifiers. HF antennas are a Mosley Classic 33 triband yagi at 55 feet and a 900 foot horizontal loop up 75 feet fed with 600 ohm balanced line through a Ten-Tec 229 tuner which enables me to work 160-2m. I can usually be found daily on 14.165 mc. at 1200Z in the company of "the W2MIG Group," an informal gathering of some of the nicest people that I have ever had the pleasure to meet in ham radio.
