I have been involved commercial communications since 1988 when I constructed a local commercial UHF repeater and tower for business use. I installed and performed maintenance on several mobile units for use on my tower and I guess this is what aventually led me to Amateur radio. I was licensed as KG4GNF in March of 2000 and after upgrading to General class I picked up the Vanity call of W4ERC. I purchased another repeater this time for Amateur radio and now has been moved to a county system for emergency and regular amateur use. Ive done a little of everthing from fox hunting and building fox radios to APRS. My love in ham radio from the start was HF mode DX. My favorite has always been 17 meters although I dont mind a little rag chewin in the evenings on 75 meters. Although Im a true Floridian most of my family is from the Blue Ridge mtns of North Carolina. My favorite vacation area is Seveirville Tennessee and I am a big supporter of Made in USA products and this is where I fell in love with Ten-Tec equipment, My goal is to have an all Ten-Tec station and so far the only thing missing is the HF amplifier. Ive had several other hf rigs IC746pro, IC775dsp, IC706, Flex Radio, and a few others but have been completly satisfied with the Omni Vii.
