Originally from West Virginia,worked 20 years in coal mines,company went out of business in early 1980's.Moved to Florida and have been in the House Painting Business until present. Work 95% cw,10m through 40m,some psk31(I am a terrible typist).Had a 80 foot tower at our old house with 4 element beam on 20m and 2 elements on 40m.Inverted L for 80 and 160m with plenty of radials but in1998 Moved to a semi deed restricted neighborhood so no big ant. Antenna simple 35.5 foot vertical that is base fed over 30 radials.Antenna not outstanding but I make a lot of cw contacts,over 60,000 in the 14 years we have lived in this semi deed restricted community.When you are not a BIG GUN---CW IS KING. Present operating station includes a Ten-Tec ORION 2, Alpha Amp for Legal Limit.. Also a HW-9 with the warc pak that my Elmer( Lyle Gaston W8FG who is now a SK) and I Built in 1985.Will never let this rig go! great qrp rig.I do a lot of qrp with this little rig at about 3 watts. Hobbies beside Ham Radio are USPSA AND IDPA ACTION PISTOL SHOOTING, I am a Master Class IDPA and A class USPSA SHOOTER . Been a Lifelong Motorcycle Rider, started riding my Uncles Bikes at 12 ,first bike was a 1947 Harley Knucklehead in 1957 and now ride a Gold Wing. Try to ride every day.My other bike is a ZX14, keep it for for when the Harley V rods want to race.You should see the young kids faces when I take my helmet off when parking the zx14 .This is a true 180 mph bike.When you drop the hammer on this bike you better know what you are doing.
On the rig a lot in the summer when it is to hot to ride my motorcycle. Hope to work you on the bands.
