First off, I go by my middle name, Anthony, in case you are wondering why it says "James.". I am a cinematographer living in Pasadena, CA. I primarily shoot movies and TV shows. You can see some of my credits here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0362529/
I dabbled in UHV/VHF for a bit, but soon drifted away from the hobby mostly due to having made the mistake of starting with an HT that was heavily overloaded in the front end from all of the RF bouncing around NYC. So I drifted away from amateur radio until I moved out to Los Angeles in 2001. Since everyone spends so much time in LA driving, I decided to get back into the hobby by starting with a mobile installation. I put a Yaesu FT-857-D in my pickup truck with a 2m/440 antenna and a High Sierra 1800 antenna. I have since replaced the High Sierra with a Hi-Q 6/160 RT-MC Around 2004 I upgraded to General, and then in 2008 I upgraded to Extra. I have been re-learning code, since I forgot my 5 wpm proficiency long ago. I have finally begun to make my first few CW contacts, and am finding it to be incredibly fun and satisfying.
