February 2012 marked Oakview Elementary's "Topcats" first time in the School Club Round-up. Oakview is a 4th-6th grade elementary school located in Centralia, Washington. Information about the school can be obtainedfrom the following website http://www.centralia.k12.wa.us/oak

We placed 4th in the Elementary school division and will look to improve our score in October!

    Because of the excitement the School Club Round up created at the school several classroom's asked for MORE radio time so to not dissappoint here is the W7O Mt. St. Helen's Eruption Anniversary special event!

   We are operating for only one day from Oakview May 18th to remember this local historical event. 32 years ago at 08:32 AM the mountain blew. Centralia was plunged into an uneasy "midnight darkness" at mid day. Most of the ash floated eastward  but this event affected many families here who vacationed in the Mt. St. Helens area or knew people who lived and worked there. We pause to remember and to invite you to share your memories with the students who will be operating the special event as they were not alive when this happened.  W7O is slated to be on the air for a couple of weeks. At 0001Z on May 19th the SEAPAC crew will take the call and promote the SEAPAC Ham Radio Convention which is held the first weekend in June at Seaside Oregon. We are hopeful that we will be able to hand off the call to the Oregon club live on the air.
