First licensed in 1958 as KN9PXV in Moline, Illinois. Upgraded in 1959 to General with the call sign of K9PXV. Sold my equipment to go on to senior college and in the 60's to renew your license you had to prove that you had operated during the last 3 months before your license expired so goodbye ham radio license. Please check out the K9PXV web site ( www.qsl.net/k9pxv ). Returned to the hobby in 1992 as AA8GL and kept that call sign until 1996 when I received the vanity call sign of W8EB. My interests are in chasing DX and being DX. I am one entity (KP1) away from confirming all 338 countries. Each year since 1995 my wife (W8DVC) and I go to Sint Maarten and operate in a vacation style from the island and I enter the ARRL DX Phone Contest as PJ7B ( www.qsl.net/pj7b ). I also have enjoyed collecting boatanchors that I used when I was a teenager as well as some of the equipment that I could not afford back then. Currently I have a HQ-180C and a Johnson Adventurer coupled with a Lafayette HA-90 VFO that I put on the air with a straight key for some fun qso's. Also have a National NC-270 and RME4350 receiver and a Johnson Ranger plus a Swan Amplifier. Am currently working on a Heathkit Apache. I check into the NorCars Net they meet each morning except Sundays on 7197 at 8:15 am est or edt as well as in the afternoons at 5 pm. Please check out the NorCars website at ( www.qsl.net/norcars). My other interests are restoring and showing my 1968 Ford Ranchero GT and my 1969 Ford Torino GT convertible. Check them out at my web site www.qsl.net/w8eb thanks. In 2005 we built a new home on 5 acres of old farm ground. No one complains about the tower or my ham radio activities which is a good thing.
