DXCC First licensed 1957. First call was K8GMG. Prior calls W3HAW, W1HCA Ch Op at AB8AAG Mars station Camp Evans Vietnam 1967, 1968.I put this station together. It was the first time a mars station was put together so close to the fighting. In fact we were mortered and rocketed regularly. Many times they landed within 20 feet of the station. We built our yagi's from 1/2 steel conduit10 feet long and electrically lengthened thjem with a coil of #14 wire in the center and coupled them with a 2 turn link. Our signals at Ft Lewis were as good as the other stations in our net.
