My wife and I live in Shingletown, Ca. located in the mountains at an elevation of 3,000 ft. Shingletown provides an excellent transmitting and receiving site. According to most maps, it is located 30 miles due East of Redding, Ca. and 20 miles West of Lassen National Volcanic Park, with great trout fishing in surrounding areas. Rigs here are: Johnson Viking Ranger transmitter, Johnson Viking Valiant transmitter, National NC-300 receiver, Hammarlund HQ-170A receiver, Kenwood TS-180S, and Kenwood TS-870, with an Ameritron AL-80B amplifier. For local VHF work rig is an ICOM 229-H. HF antennas are a Super Loop 80 up at 70 ft, a long wire antenna with a length of 148 feet at a height of 50 feet and a J-Pole antenna for VHF. Memberships for ARS WA6SEU are: ARRL, Ten-Ten International Net, Inc. #2004, Fists NR 8106, CC NR 2048, Straight Key Century Club SKCC # 5132, WAS and WACB. Ham radio is a lifetime satisfying hobby that one can explore, enjoy, and grow with, and to capture the excitement of transmitting - receiving of radio frequency signals through our atmoshpere and beyond is a most inspiring phenomenon. To that end, amateur radio communications is the implement that has been my passion for the last fifty one years, allowing me both the privilege and the opportunity to be in communications with fellow hams the world over.
