Hi all,

I was first liscensed as WN4KDF in 1962. Upgraded to advanced while in the navy aprox. 1965. Took advanced test about 1967 WA4KDF. Passed extra andbecame WC4N aproximately in 1987.My first rig in 1962 was and old Philco radio i spied in a neighbor farmers tobacco barn. It had allready been releived of it's wood case for some reason but I didn't need that anyway. After a little kidding me about my working it out he said you take it on Idon't need it. That gem went into the back of dads old Plymouth and away I went home.Like to watch them tubes glow. :-) Scrounged up a transistor and old if can to make me a BFO so I could copy cw. By the way, I've always been pretty much a cw addict. Where did iget the transistor (ck722)? Well, my dad was already a ham liscensed in 1960 WN4EYH and he had aquired a few luxuries like the early transistors from OLSON radio the mail order parts store of the time I'm sure u old timers rememberOLSON. Woreeach catalog out we gotfrom them dreaming and saving pennies to order a few more new gadgets.Homebrewed several transmitters with scrounged tv parts and little thought aboutTVIHi.Then one day my brother ,who was in the military, brought in a surplus BC 342N receiver. Now that was up town in them days. In later years i converted it to all transistor and used it for several years as aif for 6 and 2 converters

Live in an appartment right now and just mostly qrp to a home brew bug catcher type antnnna out on my trustly old 1989 Chevy blazer. I've got my eye out for a good radio qth out on a hill somewhere. Have worked several stations and a few Europe and South America with qrp.

Love six and two meteor scatter. Maybe before long can get back to that.

Update:

Back on now with pretty good location. Temp 6 and 2 antennas up and loop for hf.Life is good. God has blessed me

:-)
