In Loving Memory of Bob the Cat, {KK9CAT} "4th Party Traffic of the 3rd Kind." Bob passed away of 2011 peacefully at home on the first day of autumn with next to kin. He was21 years old. RestIn PeaceMy Love. We miss you!!!+ “Brad obtained his first ham license in Mar. '99 at the age of 17 and was issued the call sign of KB9UJD. His passion for emergency services/communications led him to earn his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Business Admin. & Homeland Security from Keiser University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in June '11. Currently, Brad is mostly active on 10 meters & 2 meter SSB. (He is also an avid shortwave listener.) His station consists of the following rigs: Yaesu FT-847; Yaesu FRG-8800 (w/ opt. VHF transverter); Icom IC-746PRO & Yaesu FT-8100 for dual band FM on the local bands. He is a member of the following organizations: SATERN, ESDA, PARS (WW9P) & is an ARRL Life Member. Have served as an ARRL Emcomm Instructor & Field Instructor, is a member of the Illinois Notary Public, and has worked both real world and practice disaster drills, including "Top Off 2" and a haz-mat acid leakage at Greater Rockford Airport. Published a '04 QST Magazine article titled, "Harmonious Apartment Station" &more recently, "A Young Ham in Orbit." In his family, he has a cousin who is also a radio ham with the call sign of KJ4HJJ who lives just south of Jacksonville, NC. One of Brad's biggest accomplishments was co-founding the Friday Night Fun Net, the most popular net in Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Eastern Iowa.Recently, healso co-founded the "Rockford Area Ragchewers Net."The net was established in early Dec. '08. Brad has completed ARRL ECC Levels 1, 2, & 3 and placed on the ARECC Honor Roll. He has also completed all NIMS basic requirements (NIMS IS-100; 200; 700; & 800 a + b). Brad has served as an ARRL Field and Emcomm Instructor/ Elmer & is an ARRL Life Member. Today, Brad continues the legacy that he was once taught by his elmers: Paul Speciale, W6UOE (now SK), Mark Broman, N9CNW, and Tony Tuner, KB9NBB (allof Rockford), of doing what he can by ‘planting the seeds’ needed for ham radio awareness and growth by donating books to his local library on ham radio & mentoring newer hams. **Remember folks, ham stands for Help All Mankind. *And you thought you had antenna problems?
