I was first licensed as a novice in 1963. I've held an Amateur Extra class ticket since 1983. I'm active primarily on HF CW, but do enjoy SSB and digital modes, too, including PSK31, RTTY and VHF/UHF D-Star. I'm also amember of the PAPA System in Southern California (Digital and Analog Repeater Network). DXing and contesting is where I spend most of my time on the air. Amateur radio is a hobby I've treasured for many years. I'm a tax attorney by profession, practicing in Los Angeles of which I'm also a native. I'm also a participant in the ARRL Volunteer Counsel Program, helping to respond to the enactment of local zoning ordinances and land use restrictions detrimental to the Amateur Radio Service and to resolve legal disputes over radio antennas. My shack includes an Elecraft K3/P3 transceiver linked to my SteppIR yagi and laptop with a microHam interface. Lots of fun! I also use a Henry 2K-Classic X linear amplifier (a pair of Eimac 3-500Zs), a top corner of which appears at the bottom of this image:
I also enjoy this FTdx-5000 station, which performs very well in my favorite mode:
Here's a picture of the SteppIR beam (with a VHF/UHF vertical on top):
. . . and here's my Hy-Gain Hy-Tower, a 53-foot vertical which I use on the low bands:
I look forward to a QSO with you. Wishing you good health, peace . . . and DX! 73 de WW6P, Dean. Last modified: 2011-02-14 19:23:07, 2589 bytes fetched
