Hi fellow hams. I'm formerly from Manchester, NH and now live full time in Lakeland, Florida. I'm a Viet Nam era US Army veteran who retired from law enforcement. I now enjoy playing full time with ham radio, fresh and saltwater flyfishing and dualsport/ cruiser motorcycles. Most of my ham radio operation is portable on battery power at 100w or less even when at home. My field radio's are an Icom IC-7000 & IC-7200. These feed two Buddipole portable antennas at 8' and 16' in height and cover from 2m to 80m. both vertical and horizontal.Portable work is very rewarding and fun! I use modified headsets, microphonesand switches for most of my portable work. I like custom ham radio products that go far beyond what is expected of most commercial equipment. I modify David Clark headsets, PTT switches and and other Mil-spec items for amateur radio use. The results are outstanding. All wishing a QSL card will receive one including SWL listeners. Thank you for your contact. Remember to call CQ !! NOTE: The Caribbean Buddies DXpedition to the island of Dominica (J79ZP) took place from February 01-10 2011 with thousands of international contacts made on our light portable equipment. This was the fourth in a series of annual DXpeditions which include Monserrat, St. Marteen and St. Lucia. Thanks to all those who contacted us.
The IC-7200 in olive drab color with the David Clark H10-36 headset & Body Switch. A great system for portable operations under the worst of conditions. The body switch has the large green PTT switch and a small casual PTT switch. All components are made by David Clark, Nexus and Heil Sound.
Buddipole portable antenna with 16' mast in the yard. Great for DXpeditions! Another product that can stand up to both military and extreme ham radio situations such as ARES.The antenna has many available options such as a triple ratio switch balun, 80m coils and mil-specshock cord whips.
