Its over now. Thanks for the QSOs. For those who did not make it to the log -I will be doing this again when the travel bug bites me again.
It was a 'spare time' style operationbetween 30 Oct and5 Nov 09. Main focus was CW operation on 80m/160m. Also operated on the new 5Mhz band (5,403.5Khz USB). Antennas included: 160m - Inverted L (16m vertical part) and 44 elevated radials (some over the water at the high tide). At the centre of ANT the radials were at about 2m AGL. 80m and higher bands - verticals (sharing the same ground system). RX antennas - I have taken 2 beverages with remote switching box. After the first night had to remove EU beverages as they were picking up the generator noise, could not use it at all. Relocated EU (200m) beverage othernight, but without much success (lack of directivity and quite low signal levels if compared to the vertical). The static was bad but bearable; therefore in RX mode for all the QSOs I used TX antenna. Quite a few EU QRP stationson 80m managed to get into my log, so I reckon I should not be accussed of having no ears or receiving antennas. At this side of the world there is significantly less QRM and whatever you TX between the static crashes will be heard. PA - never had one. Was running at full 100w. Instead of carrying a KW PA I usually carry a few more kgs of radials that give exactly the same result. I do agree thatadding a PA to already good radial system helps a lot but instead of investing into a PA I usually buy tickects to the next destination to keep more people (and the travel bug) happy.
