We are Wisbech Amateur Radio Club in Wisbech Cambridgeshire on the East coast of England, 100 miles due North of London. We are located in Fenland, which is reclaimed marshland and mountain free, for a large radius the ASL is zero. We are keen on contests & special event and take part in several thought out the year usually using upto a pair of Elecraft K3, 5B4AGN BPF's, Acom 1000 and TL922 Amps, with antennas which are all home brew.
Our main station antennas include, Multiband Spiderbeam (10 - 20), Pair phased verticals for 40m (NW / SE) with elevated radials,Vertical GP for 80m Top loaded, Dipole for 80m, 250ft Longwire for Topband.
Portable antennas can be anything from a simple doublet to a 500ft inverted V Vee beam.
Our latest experimental antenna is a 5 element wire Yagi for 20m on a 6M boom, this antenna was designed by M0CKE Jim and built by M0CKE Jim and Andy M0CHK. As you can see from the photo the virtual boom length is much longer than 6m, we have used fibreglass "fishing or crappie" poles to enable us to mount the reflector and first director at over 12m apart whilst keeping the driven and 2nd / 3rd directors on the boom, these elements are wire along the shorter "crappie" poles.
