GB1ST (Saltram Telegraph) is a Special Event Station held at Saltram, Plympton, Plymouth, England. The Special Event is held in a field adjacent to the original site of the telegraph, which is now Telegraph Cottage.
Saltram Telegraph is the 21st signal station on the Plymouth line. Of all the original sites of the telegraphs on the Plymouth line this one is the most easily identified; as the current cottage is built where the telegraph once stood.The cottage is believed to be the only building still standing with features from the original telegraph station - two wooden beams whichform part of the roof. The grid square of the original telegraph location is the same as the location that the Special Event Station: IO70xj. The dates of the last operation were: Monday 17th May until Saturday 22nd May 2010.

The WAB: SX55 Saltram, Plymouth, Devon During the Napoleonic wars Saltram Shutter Telegraph was one of a number that operated as a relay station to pass messages between the Admiralty in London and the Naval port of Plymouth. Saltram telegraph was the final telegraph before Mount Wise Plymouth and is station 21 on the line. There was already a system in place between London and Portsmouth and in 1805 a line was started to connect with Plymouth. The exact date of when the work as completed isn't known, but is believed to be soon after 4th May 1806, as there is a report on this date stating the line was almost ready. There is more information on the shutter telegraph at the Royal Signals Museum in Blandford, Dorset. None of the telegraphs operated after April 1816 as the telescopes were then returned to the Admiralty. The operator for this event is John Wakefield M0XIG
