First licensed in 1963 as WN9JRJ, then as WA9MZU in 1964, which was held
continuously for 42 years until 2006. Been a great ride so far, and I need to say
"thanks" to my two Elmers: Doug, KB9LV, with whom I maintain a weekly schedule
on 20 meters, and Steve, N8BIS (SK).

Interested in the "Golden Age" of ham radio -- the mid to late thirties. Maintain
a "thirties hamshack" of AM gear, mostly restored pre-war Collins transmitters,
National receivers, and printed material from the period 1930 to 1940.

A functional 1920 spark-gap station is also available, should conditions warrant its use.

Also operate Collins post-war milestone gear up through the Gold
Dust Twins.

And I enjoy operating AM on 75 meters occassionally running a
Johnson 500 or the magnificant Collins (Navy) FRT-24, a 10-channel
autotune 1KW AM rig.

But for daily use, it's contemporary gear. Very much appreciate
quality audio in both AM and SSB transmissions.

Other interests include astronomy and building homebrew antique
transmitters and amplifiers.
