Hello From Ashton, Iowa!

Hello radio friend!

I live in the small Iowa town of ASHTON, IOWA. (About 400 people)

Radio is a great hobby and I have enjoyed it since I was a young boy. My father had bought an old floor model short wave radio. When the dials lighted with a dull glow and as the speakers crackled with a broadcast from some faraway place, it spoke to my heart. I wanted to know more. It started me on a life long journey.

View from shack window looking South East.

Looking up at the shack from the front yard.

A view from the tower looking East/North East (local grain elevator stands about 180ft)

I did not think too much about ham radio until age 19 and serving my country in the Army. In 1987 I was posted to a signal unit and it was there that I developed my interest for radio into love for making contacts.

  • Today I enjoy DXing and working the many different special events. I also am searching for US counties. I am active on most HF bands.
  • How about you? 73' MARK
