I am a native of Portal, GA in northern Bulloch County and grew up listening to CBs as a teenager, which led to my interest first in simple crystal monitors, then to scanners. I got my Technician license (with 5wmp code) in 1995. I am a member of the Statesboro Amateur Radio Society and am currently the Emergency Coordinator for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (A.R.E.S.) for Bulloch County. I upgraded to General in 2002. My primary interests are computers, scanning public safety traffic, and 2-meters. Equipment includes a Yaesu FT-2500M 2-meter rig used as a base unit inside the house which is connected to a Ringo Ranger mounted at 19'AGL.It is powered by an Astron RS-35M power supply and uses a retro-style Motorola commercial external speaker. I also have 3 Realistic Pro-2055 trunktracking scanners, one mounted in the dash of my car, one by my bedside, another in the office. I have a handheld Uniden 245XLT trunktracking scanner I take to work. I have an Icom IC-2100H 2-meter mobile also mounted inside the car. Since our club recently installed a D-star system I also have an Icom 91AD DSTAR-capable HT. In October 2011 I began assembling the elements of an HF station again after getting out of HF for several years. This station consists of an Icom 730, MFJ-949D Deluxe Versa-Tuner, and a G5RV mounted between two pine trees about 40' in the air.
