Just an old guy trying different things! Located in Belfair, Wasington, USA. US Navy Hospital Corpsman 1971-1991. Spent my last 8 years stationed with the Marines. Hoorah! Computer Tech/Customer Service type. Dirt Mover (1999 Nissan Mini-Excavator) when I feel the need. Passed exam for General 12 Feb 2011. Cool! My Dad (AB5IW-Silent Key) gave me his old Yaesu FT-7 which sat in my garage for over 10 years before I pulled it out to "play"with it. Received great. After I got my ticket I found out it wouldn't transmit worth a dang. So, thanks to selling off some property, I bought a Yaesu FT-857D And it works great. Added a SignaLink USB & CAT cable to the Yaesu for "digical" stuff. Saved up and bought me a Wouxun KG-UV3D to carry around town with me. It's a great little radio for $100! Built a 2-meter J-Pole antenna for $11 that is working great and a long wire for 10-160. Finally got both up on the roof . Cool! Still experimenting building my own dipoles. Latest is a multi-band (80-10; will work all with the AT-300 tuner) antenna that looks like a spiders web on top of the house! You gotta be REALLY careful walking around the front yard or you could get decapitated by an antenna wire!!! Just recently I bought a brand new 6btv ($100 on Craig's List!!) and, so far, it is working great! Can't wait to get the radials out correctly. (Raining too much to be outside right now!) SWMBO and I just bought a used1986 Bounder RV for a trip we want to take later this year. So, I'll be going moble! Cool.
