I've been licensed since 1999 when as part of what I like to call my "Y2K fun" I got my initial ham license, got a fireplace insert and 4 cords of firewood, and installed 4 large deep cycle batteries under my porch with an ongrid automatic charger. I thought I only would want VHF/UHF privileges but read Jane AA0ZR's article "Talking with Drums" and fell in love with CW. I operated mainly QRP/CW/P for quite a while but have since got lazy and haven't done CW in about a year. I was also quite active with NTS for a few years but primarily due to work schedule changes am no longer active with traffic handling. And I have been on and off active with packet but have had so much trouble with software I'm taking a long break from that! So what am I still doing with my license? Good question! I am still active with Colorado D23 and D6 to the extent my schedule permits. I also can be found on APRS. I am a summer fire lookout at Zenobia Peak, Dinosaur National Monument, Moffat County, Colorado; and in the winter am a respiratory therapist working for a temporary agency primarily in Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado. I got my fire lookout job primarily due to my ARES and backpacking experience. I am currently planning a spring trip to Puerto Rico to study Spanish and hope to meet and talk to some hams there. I am trying to be active on Echolink and connect with Puerto Rican Echolink stations. Anyone else is also welcome to contact me. Me gustaría communicarme con radio aficionados Puertoriqueños. 73 de Daniel N0BN
