Moved to Mattapoisett in 1981, upgraded to General and assumed N1BTQ. Upgraded to Advanced a few years later and then a final step to Extra and assumed N1TI in 2001. Over the years have been active in CW, SSB, AM, FM, RTTY, SSTV, FSTV, Packet Radio (APRS), VHF/UHF/Microwave, Amateur Satellite, Fox-hunting and RDF and WLANS. Currently inactive except occasional 144/440 mobile and very limited HF at home. On the job front I spent a number of years in radio and television at various stations in the south including WASC-AM, WEAB-AM, WFGN-AM, and WSPA-TV. After exiting the world of broadcasting I moved over to the the truck tire division of Michelin Tire Corporation in Spartanburg, SC as a lab technician for process control systems. After over three years there I met and married my wife and moved to Mattapoisett, MA in July of 1981. After wetting my appetite in the telemetry world I found a home at Neil Brown Instrument Systems in Cataumet, MA, an engineering/manufacturing firm specializing in underwater instrumentation systems for the oceanographic research, government and some private causes. After spending three years there was a very enjoyable experience in an almost country club environment. (4 day work weeks, lobster every Thursday at our TGIT parties). An opportunity presented itself in Hyannis, MA in late 1983 where I began to work as a private contractor for Fibronics, a fiberoptic datacomm company. I was building prototype datacomm equipment for about 6 months and then accepted a full time position in engineering. From there I spent several years in various engineering and technical roles until the business was aquired in 1996 by MRV Communications. I am still there today working as an Optical Transport Specialist, designing networks for Fortune 500 companies, municipal governments, and many ther venues, requiring fair amount of travel and meeting new faces while I present our companies capabilities. Other hobbies include digital photography with an assortment of Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fuji still and video cameras. Most photographic enjoyment is with 3d/Stereo photography with vintage 3D cameras from the 1950's but also use a modern Fuji 3D-W3 digital 3D camera. The photo QSL is from a visit to the Grand Old Opry after designing and implementing a fiberoptic network for them back in the 90's. 73, Tim - N1TI Last modified: 2011-12-01 13:24:42, 3738 bytes cached
