Welcome to my QRZ page. I am currently the EC/RO for Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Above is a picture of our regional communications trailer. I work in the land mobile radio industry and am also a USCG licensed Master.

The Equipment in the shack includes an Icom 745 and a FT-897D. The 745 can drive a Henry 2KD amplfier. I am hesitant to replace the 745, because it has serious I.F. filters and decent sensitivity. A Timewave DSP-599zx is used for weak signals.

The primary antenna is a large OCF wire, fed with 450 ohm balanced line and elevated about 55-60 ft. This antenna works best N/S.

For the Pacsea net, I use a pair of phased vertical 5/8λ antennas. They end-fire at about 270°T.

There is also a 750ft Beverage antenna and a Bobtail curtain for use as needed. The Beverage also makes a great BCB receiving antenna.

Admiral Lori and I do some /MM work in the summer. Below is Sabbatical, our 1989 Catalina 27 sloop with ib diesel.The HF rig aboard is an ICOM-706.

Primary MM HF antenna is a 20m Par end-fed 1/2 wave between the stern rail and the top of the mast. I usually monitor 14.300 while sailing, and also report my position on 144.390 APRS (NK8X-8)http://map.findu.com/nk8x-8
