VK2GGZ is the official station of Winston Hills Girl Guides. VK2GGZ will be active for JOTA on GMT Saturday 15 October 2011. The Winston Hills Girl Guide JOTA base and the Winston Hills Scout JOTI base are run in a cooperative manner and will be attended by about 150 Guides plus an unknown number of Scouts from throughout the region. Most radio activity will take place between 2pm and 5pm on our local Saturday (from 0300 to 0600 Zulu on GMT Saturday) however, as the Winston Hills Guides and possibly the Winston Hills Venturers are staying overnight there will be some activity until 11am on our local Sunday (until 0100 Zulu on GMT Sunday). Transmitter, antenna & Echolink details: 80m to 10m normally runs 300 Watts PEP SSB into full size dipoles. 2m station runs 5 to 50 Watts FM into a vertical dipole or colinear 70cm station runs 4 to 27 Watts FM into a vertical dipole or colinear VK2GGZ-L our 70cm echolink system (node 353879) is activated for JOTA and other Guiding activities (NB the link transmitter has a 3 minute timeout). On site "radio games" and "station management" radios are on licensed non amateur frequencies. Please note that our operational times in Zulu or GMT _are_ correct. During JOTA VK2GGZ is in time zone Lima (GMT + 11 hrs) due to "daylight savings" or "summer" time and NOT in time zone Kilo (GMT + 10 hrs) which is our "winter" time or East Australian Standard Time. Our UHF echolink node (VK2GGZ-L) is easily accessed from the Bundilla Scout Camp and can be remotely activated by DTMF command.
