I have been a ham since 1980. WI4L is not a vanity call. It was issued in 1982 after passing the extra exam during the era of the 20wpm CW test.
Simple station: 706MKIIG, TS-520, and Ameritron AL-811. Antennas are a homebrew wire Windom for 160-6, 10 Meter wire vertical, and a G5RV. When portable or camping, I mostly use the G5RV. For two meters an 11 element beam. Sometimes mobile on a Yaesu 7800 or HTX-10.
Working satellites while mobile with a glass mount antenna tilted or with a HT. Southcars has become one of my favorites! SKCC has been fun as well with CW. Echolink is an option on the iphone.
QSL here good any way you wish including EQSL.
