Rodney started out with his tech plus license and callsign KG4FFW in late 1999. He kept this license and call for about 5 years until he changed his call to N4RLC in The Spring of 2004. Not really very active but still very interested and kinda studying for an upgrade. On April 24, 2004, that upgrade to General Class came at the Cherokee Capital ARS Hamfest held in Sugar Valley GA on the last Saturday in April every year. He had known a bunch of people from this group for a while, but had never joined the club. He was invited to Field Day 2004 by this nice group of folks in the Cherokee Capital Amateur Radio Society(www.k4woc.com). That was a fun time and gave him an experience he would never forget. Rodney was really getting into this hobby now but still didn't really know which way to go, but he knew he liked Field Day. When Field Day 2005 came along, Rodney was there trying to operate with the best of them. It had happened! He was hooked!. After Field Day 2005, He then got a better perspective of Amateur Radio and HF radio operations, which made him get more interested in the hobby. He then Joined the CCARS/CHEROKEE CAPITAL ARS(www.k4woc.com). In early to mid 2006, He became interested in Radio Nets and Net Control operations. He was a little shy at first but in Mid 2006, He became Net Control Operator for the CCARS club and has been enjoying it every since. Being a NCS got him wondering about HF nets and groups and such. He looked around for some groups to join up with and be a part of and it took a little while but he found a few. Locally is the DALTON ARC(w4drc, which he became a memeber of in February of 2007. He also is member # 2365 with SOUTH CARS. His most appreciated membership would have to go to 10-10 International which took a little effort and worry on his part to acquire. It only costed him $747.79 :-) U other 10-10 ers know what he means! In February of 2007, He finally completed a major goal by getting his Amateur Extra Class License and is really enjoying "HAM" Radio now. In January of 2008, Rodney found himself hanging around a bunch of Geratolers (#2574) on 3.668 MHZ working numbers to get numbers. Drop by there, if your license allows and Work All States with them. Even if you are not Amateur Extra Class, you can listen in on the fun from October-April beginning at 0100 utc. In March 2008 Rodney Changed his call once again, to the current WR4C. In July 2008, while scrolling around the band one nite, Rodney happened upon a couple of WAS and DX Nets that he enjoyed. One was the TRIPLE H Net that he worked a little, but the one that reeled him in was THE 3905 CENTURY CLUB! They have a wide variety of nets(SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK, etc) each and everyday on 20, 40, 75/80, and 160 Meters so you can become a "MASTER" at all modes! .U can usually find Rodney on the radio in several places on the airwaves. The old Novice CW portion of 40 meters(7.100-7.125 [mainly around 7.114] = SKCC# 5574) and just 40M anywhere really and 10 METERS(28.0-28.5 & 28.410 just for ragchew 28.425 on Sundays @ 1800utc when conditions are favorable) and of course on the above mentioned nets! Hopefully, you will get to make a contact with or just sit down and have a ragchew session with Rodney sometime! He never meets a stranger, so say hello if you get a chance! 73!
