I'm a unix systems engineer, photographer, self-taught electrical engineer, gyroscopic juggler, aikidoka, husband, and father of two wonderful daughters. I first became interested in electronics as a pre-teen. I found some books on amateur radio in the library and wanted to get my license then, but I was stymied by the CW requirement. I didn't have anyone to teach me. In 2015, while researching antenna theory because it related to a project I had in mind, I became interested again. (Seems that hams are exactly the people doing interesting things with antennas. Surprise, surprise!) When I learned that the code requirement had been dropped, I took all three exams in one sitting and earned my Extra class ticket. As of this writing, I'm still a complete newbie.
My current interests include learning CW (I guess I want to conquer that barrier from my childhood,) QRP operation, SDR, and homebrewing my equipment.
