First licensed in 1978 and my first rig was a Kenwood TS-520.  Inactive for years while in medical school, residency and starting my profession, but finally back into the hobby in 2016 !  Talk about a whole new hobby!  Right before Christmas of 2016,  I got a surprise call from Gary Liljegren (W4GAL) an old friend of my father's (K0AMB) who also happened to mentor me in the 70's while living in Des Moines, IA.    Lost touch for years after he moved away to sunny Florida.   He was in the process of moving again and I asked if he had any gear that I could buy.    My current rig is his leftovers after he was going to upgrade himself.

HF Rig:  Kenwood TS-590S on an Alpha Delta DX-CC multiband dipole on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters only about 20 feet in the air.  Yaesu 857-D and a Microham microKEYER II interface in a recently built rack for use while camping.

VHF Repeater - I have a Bridgecom BCR-50V 2-meter FM repeater up and running on an off grid solar array and a 100 foot Rohn-25 tower at the top of the hill.

VHF Rig:  Kenwood TM-D710A Dual band VHF FM transceiver in the car.  Kenwood V71 dual band 2 meter/70 cm FM radio in my camping go box.

I love CW (albeit a little rusty after 20 years) and prefer that as my operating mode of choice, but also delving into JT9, JT65 and WSPR for fun.    SSB is enjoyable, but I find myself listening more than talking, especially when I am on working on call

I currently live in a rural area called Steinthal, Wisconsin located halfway between Milwaukee and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

A radiologist by profession.  An amatuer photographer, apiculturalist, boater, aviator, biker, camper, pianist and radio operator for fun.   I really have little time for any one hobby, but as I get older I am realizing that radio will be one of them that I can continue with for a very long time.

Check out my photography here:   Steinthal Photography

I have also recently opened my guest home as a sucessful vacation getaway, The Lodge at Steinthal

I try to provide personal updates about my personal and family activities on my blog:  Carpe Diem.

Also in the process of putting some info on NJ0Y.NET

Below is a video I made while entering our boat in Sheboygan's Venetian Boat Parade July 3, 2016.
