Hello, welcome to my corner of the Ham Radio world. My name is Ron, Call sign AF5Q.
First licensed in 1990, I started as KB5MUX. I have operated in 2 countries. Korea (HL9AGT and Germany DA1GR), and maritime mobile (HP/AF5Q/MM).
I am the Assistant Section Manager for Southwest Oklahoma as well as the Affiliated Club coordinator for the Oklahoma Section. If you ever need help, let me know and I will get with you and give my best efforts.
I enjoy most aspects of the hobby. Always willing to help those who I can elmer. I try not to steer ya wrong; however, it sometimes happens. I mainly operate SSB, but have been getting back into more CW. I also run JT-9, JT-65, RTTY, PSK31 as well. If you would like to rag chew sometime, shoot me a sked, or if you hear me on the air, I will chat.
Im not much of a contester with my small pistol station. Right now on the bench I have an FTdx-3000 for HF with an AL-572 amp. That supplies the Cushcraft A4S, the DX-B sloper (160, 80, 40, &30), and an 80m NVIS dipole.
I also like to go out at times and run counties in SW Oklahoma and North Texas, I do participate as a rover in the Oklahoma QSO Party, the January, June and Septemper VHF contests. In the Dodge I have a TS 480HX with a HP100A Tarheel Antenna. People sometimes ask me if I have contacted ET? Sure. QSL card is on the way from the interplanetary QSL bureau and should be here in a few light years. Setup below is an M2 2m 7 element wiuth a 440 quagi. On the back os a WT4E loop for 2m/440.
I also enjoy storm spotting, working new DX when I have time. I have 189 countries confirmed and hope to get more.
73, And I follow the Amateurs and DX Code of Conduct. Hope to work ya
