Myself and my wife Sandra lived in Lincoln UK (the county of my birth) then moved to Barnstaple in Devon for three years untill finally we moved to Spain.

Sandra and myself have lived in Spain now for 14 years, we originally lived on a Finca (farm) and ran a Boarding Kennel and cattery. We lived just outside the town of Gandesa, about 2 hours from Barcelona and 1 hour from the coast in Catalunya, North East Spain. We moved over here Christmas of 2003 and renovated an old stone casa (house) we had 3 acres of olive trees and numerouse fruit trees.

We were off grid, and totaly relient on solar power, 2000 watts 24 volt solar panals on solar tracker, 1500ah Rolls batteries and Trace 2.500kw inverter and 500 watt wind turbine.

I aquired my Spanish licence in 2005 but was not active for quite some time due to the amount of renovation work we had to do on our Finca.

20th January 2014 we finaly retired and moved to Valencia to a small hamlet called Bodegas del Campo, just inland from Valencia near a small town called Casinos. 1.199.586 ft or  365.329 mts ASL. Now back on mains electric (very exspensive) and water, and of course power cuts.

Eventually installing a 9mtr mast, and getting all my permissions inplace I am now back active again.

Although EA3 is normally Catalunya and Valencia is EA5 I was allowed to keep my EA3EWO callsign.

I was first licenced in 1984, passing the Radio Amateurs Exam and then the 12 WPM Morse Test at Potishead Radio near Bristol one Sunday morning, a day I will never forget, when I used to live in Tadley near Bassingstoke.

History Portishead Radio.http://www.ontheshortwaves.com/Stations/Portishead.pdf

Back in England my call sign was G4XMQ,of which I have just been reissued. I was formally a member of the Lincoln Shortwave Club G5FZ/G6COL One of the oldest clubs in the UK, first formed in 1921 http://www.g5fz.co.uk/, Contest Manager and then club Chairman, . At the time I was very active on 10ghz, 23 and 70cms ATV, between myself and Bob G7AVU we instigated the instalation of the 23cms ATV Repeater now installed on the central tower of Lincoln Cathedral (unique) http://lincolnrepeaters.co.uk/ any one interested in ATV/ FSTV view  http://www.batc.tv/ch_li.php and look for GB3VL the Lincoln Repeater, They have live video on Friday and Saturday evenings from 19.00Z .

I used to work for National Express driving coaches and my wife  was a Nurse at Lincoln County Hospital and Barnstaple General.

In my earlier years I was in HM Forces (Grenadier Guards 2nd Battalion) 1966-1973. hence the indication on my QSL card, Spending time in Germany, Cyprus and British Honduras, eventualy completing my service at Windsor on Public Duties.

My only claim to fame is being in Princess Anns bedroom, riding on Prince charles Go-kart and knocking off the angels from the main gates of Buckingham Palace with my Army truck; of which I received a £120 fine, a lot of money in those days.

Now enjoying retirement (hopefully) with our five cats and three dogs (Pepi the Beagle, Doogle the Podenco and Snowy the Bichon Maltese) in a lovely part of SPAIN.

Thanks for looking at my profile, I hope we can contact each other either SSTV or other modes. 73 Terry EA3EWO.

I do not beleive in paying for a QSL, no matter what the cost, you should not charge, you should not be in the hobby otherwise, eQSL offer a perfectly good service.

KG-STV is a True Digital error correcting Slowscan TV program, it is not internet based and Text can also be sent separatley,  writen by JJ0OBZ and released on 29-06-2010 version 1.0.1 build KG-004.

We use   https://www.facebook.com/groups/328568687559005/  for talkback, come and join us for this exciting SSTV mode, For more information and operating procedures of KG-STV and download of KG-STV. see http://www.wells10000.plus.com/m5aml/kg-stv.htm

                                        ...............................................................................................................

Below is a Screen Shot of KG-STV TX/RX screen, Mode MSK, Code Convolution ( The difference in TX time between Convolution and Normal is like Scottie 1 and Scottie 2 )and Scale 1.00 are the recomended settings, click on Settings to install your Callsign and Com Port, it may also be advisable to increase the Time out Timer to 40 secs, this is dependant on your quality of received signal.

To TX a picture simply Drag and Drop an image into the TX/RX Box, the time your picture takes to TX is shown in the TX Time, bottom right of your picture. Before commencing TX it is recomended to ask if frequency is in use because if another KG QSO is already in progress by TXing you will wipe out their picture, this can be very annoying, to do this just write in the Send Text box and send, finaly click on Send Image to send your picture, if at any time you wish to abort your TX click on Send Image again.

Once your image is sent you may receive a reply via BSR (Bad Segment Report) this will show in the long Black box to the left of the TX/RX screen and Resp BSR will light in Red. To send your BSR click Resp BSR, continue this procedure with the received station until he has a completed Image, this will be indicated by the Resp BSR box staying grey.

If you are receiving an Image and you need BSR to complete your picture click on Send BSR it will also tell you how many Bad Segments you are requesting.

Once your picture is complete inform the other station via Send Text.It is important to keep everyone informed of what is happening via the Send Text facility. We also use Facebook  for talkback https://www.facebook.com/groups/328568687559005/

This was a picture transmitted by me via KG-STV and recived by OZ1QX the quality of picture is far superior to the majority of pictures received on analog SSTV and comparable to those via Easypal with their Internet based software.

Some Pictures received by me on 14:111 USB via KG-STV, picture quality is excellent.

This is a picture I received from OK2ZCH Zdenek, his signal was S0 to S4 very heavy QSB, it took 3 attemps  26 and 7 BSR (Bad Sector Reports) Before getting a final P5 picture, so bad signals can still produce quality pictures. Second picture sent by me and received by 4X6FK Nir in Israel, this is his received picture.

I spent 7 years in the Grenadier Guards, 2nd Battalion, now amalgamated with the 1st Battalion, serving in Wuppertall and Munster in Germany, Belize in Central America, and Akrotiri Cyprus before finishing my service in Windsor on Public Duties.

I did Guard of  Honour for Emperor Hirohito in 1971 during his visit to the UK and many Public duties at the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, Windsor Castle and The Bank of England, known as The Bank Piquet, I think now no longer in operation, at the time we were paid 5 old shillings all newly minted and I remember every one used to help themselfs to the toilet paper as it was all marked "Bank Of England"

The Ceremony of The Keys (Tower Of London)

The ancient custom of The Ceremony of The Keys which involves the formal locking of the Gates of The Tower of London. has been carried out continuously every night without fail for more than 600 years since 1340.

Every night, at exactly seven minutes to 10 o'clock, the Chief Yeoman Warder of the Tower emerges from the Byward Tower wearing his long red coat and Tudor bonnet. He carries in one hand a candle lantern and in the other hand the Queens Keys.

With solemn tread he moves along Water Lane, to Traitor's Gate where his escort, provided by one of the duty regiments of Foot Guards, awaits him. He hands the lantern to an escorting soldier and the party moves to the outer gate. On the way, all guards and sentries salute the Queen's Keys.

After locking the outer gate the Chief Yeoman Warder and escort retrace their steps. The great oak gates of the Middle and Byward Towers are locked in turn.

They now return along Water lane towards Traitor's Gate where, in the shadows of the Bloody Tower archway, a sentry awaits.

"Halt, who comes there?" the sentry barks.

"The Keys!" answers the Chief Yeoman Warder.

"Whose Keys?"
"Queen Elizabeth's Keys"
"Pass Queen Elizabeth's Keys" replies the sentry, "and all's well"

The party then proceeds through the Bloody Tower archway and up towards the broadwalk steps where the main guard is drawn up. The Chief Yeoman Warder and escort halt at the foot of the steps and the officer in charge gives the command to the Guard and Escort to present arms.

The Chief Yeoman Warder moves two paces forward, raises his Tudor bonnet high in the air and calls "God preserve Queen Elizabeth." The guard answers "Amen" exactly as the clock chimes ten and 'The Duty Drummer' sounds The Last Post on his bugle.

The Chief Yeoman Warder takes the keys to the Queen's House and the guard is dismissed.

The one time when the ceremony was interrupted was during the Second World War, when there was an air raid on London, and a number of incendiary bombs fell on the old victorian guardroom just as the Chief Yeoman Warder and the escort were coming through the Bloody Tower archway. The shock and the noise of the bombs falling, blew over the escort and the Chief Yeoman Warder but they stood up, dusted themselves down, and carried on. The Tower holds a letter from the Officer of the Guard apologising to King George VI that the ceremony was late and a reply from the King which says that the Officer is noto be punished as it was due to enemy action that the Ceremony of The Keys was late.

During my service in the Grenadier Guards I have performed many guards at The Tower but only once did I have the honour of performing the senty's post during the ceromony of the keys.
