I'm Kenn, KA5KXW in Norman, OK.  My main amateur pursuit is in building homebrew equipment and helping others to learn about electronics and radio.  You'll find me most often on 40 Meter CW banging away at a leisurely 13 words a minute.  My CW is pretty rusty, but I get by (barely).  If you have worked me on the air, all I can say is God bless you for your patience and thanks.

My station consists of a BITX-20 that I scratch built, a ROSE-80 80 meter transceiver (heavily modified) for which I made single sided PC boards (in KICAD format if you want a template), a 40 meter CW transceiver loosely based on the SWL40 and various and sundry shack accessories that I cobbled together with a soldering iron in the dark of night.

My commercial equipment is state of the art...from 1978.  I run a Ten Tec Omni D with matching power supply and keyer most of the time. Also in the lineup is a HW 100, HW 101, Kenwood TS 430S for PSK31 and a few HDSDR USB interfaces that I use with GQRX on Linux.  The shack computer is a 10 year old Dell that was saved from the dumpster, dual core 32 bit running Debian 8.something.

For antennas, I have a 2M jpole, an end fed inverted V for 80-10 and a 75' random doublet fed with ladder line.  Why 75 feet? Because that's how far it is between the 2 biggest trees in my backyard.  I also have a 2m quagi that isn't terribly useful as I can't get it up above the trees in the yard without being shot by my pretentious neighbors. C'est la vie.

What's in the pipeline, you ask?  Currently, I've got an all band CW transceiver in the works.  The receiver section is complete and I'm still designing the transmitter section.

But, I've decided to really start working on my CW and start collecting some paper for my wall.  WAS, DXCC, etc., here I come!

Shack pictures will be uploaded later....
