My home in Jupiter, FL

To My Fellow Amateur Radio Operators:

Thank you for visiting my QRZ page.  I have been a ham radio operator since the age of 12 years old.  My father and I built a 75 watt CW crystal controlled transmitter right out of the ARRL handbook many years ago.  I used an RME 4300 receiver and I was on the air!  My first call in Peoria, IL was WA9JAC.  I subsequently obtained a call just after graduating from college of WA4IPS where I secured my first job as an electrical engineer in Raleigh, NC for the Westinghouse Electric Company.  My current call of WC3W was secured while in Chadds Ford, PA (Philadelphia area) where I secured my Advanced and Extra tickets.  I thoroughly enjoy the hobby, the people, and friendships that I have made over the years.

I now live in Jupiter, FL with my wife of 41 years (who also is a ham but not active).  I have two adult children (both hams but not active) in Boston and Denver, CO.  My daughter has blessed us with three beautiful grandchildren.

I live in a beautiful community in Jupiter BUT it is controlled by an HOA so antenna restrictions are in place.  I have used a stealth long wire antenna across a pond in front of my house that is 200 feet long and in an "L" configuration.  It is only about 15 feet above the brackish pond which serves as an amazing counterpoise.  I have done quite well using this antenna.

Just recently, a friend who also lives in a restricted community and I built a remote station about 8 miles west of my home QTH in Jupiter Farms.  We just went operational about a month ago and it is an amazing station.  We are using a Flexradio 6500, an Expert amp 2K, a Palstar tuner and we have a 5 band JK Navassa antenna up about 80 feet with a JK 30/40 about ten feet below the Navassa.  The tower is a sky needle that we purchased from a ham up in the Chicago area.  The station is amazing!

At home, I have a Flexradio 6700, a DX-5000 and more amplifier than I deserve--an ACOM 2000A, a QRO, and another Expert Amp 2K!  I am set for life!

Besides hamming, I fly single engine airplanes each week.  I have been flying since I was 18 years old and hold private, instrument, and commercial ratings.  I have flown in about every GA airport south of a line from Tampa to Jacksonville including Key West.  I made my sixth motorcycle trip in the Alp riding BMW's in September of 2016 and I have sailed all my life making two trips in the past couple years to the British Virgin Islands where I was pilot in command of a 45 foot catamaran sailboat.  Life is good!  Lastly, I am a keyboard musician and play in an amazing contemporary worship group at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Juno Beach, FL!

I wish everyone a blessed holiday and Happy New Year going into 2017!  Good DX'ing.  May we keep our hobby active, alive and growing.  Here are some pictures of our remote site in Jupiter, FL.
