QRZ.COM Forums Rules

Our mission at QRZ.COM is to host a ham radio discussion and swap meet forum that is friendly, fun, safe, and respectful. We respect persons of all religions, races, ethnicities, and sexual preferences and will not tolerate abuse or harassment of any person or group with regard to these matters.

Participation in the QRZ Forums is voluntary. If you are offended by certain subject material, you may choose not to read it.

Our rules of conduct on the QRZ Forums are a living, evolving document. Sometimes, we must change the rules to accommodate changing times, and/or unpredictable circumstances or events. Our enforcement of these rules may be subjective, and depending on the circumstance, offenders may be warned, suspended, or banned from the site.

QRZ subscribers are not afforded special posting privileges. Subscribers are subject to the same rules as everyone else. Subscribers do not get a refund when they are banned.

The QRZ Staff reserves the sole right to its discretion in these matters. QRZ also reserves the right to persue legal action in case of threats of violence, or any other illegal or criminal activity.

When you post on the QRZ Forums or Swapmeet, you will be bound by the following rules:

Prohibited Behavior
  1. Posting derogatory comments of a racial, religious, or sexual nature. This includes your signature line and the title and/or subject lines of forum threads and posts.
  2. Profanity is not allowed in the subject line of forum threads, your signature line, or avatar picture. Signature lines may not be used for proselytizing.
  3. Posting pictures or links to any media which contain pornography, nudity, animal cruelty, racism, or sexism. Nudity is defined as any photo which contains genitalia, female nipples, naked butts (including thongs), sexual acts, or depictions thereof. This includes both male and female subjects. Pornography is defined as any image of the type described above, as well as textual narratives of any sexual act or behavior. Despite any interpretation of the above, QRZ will make the final determination.
  4. Posting or linking to information on how to obtain or operate illegal equipment, to bypass software licensing and/or copyright mechanisms, or information on how to hack or subvert any security system.
  5. Posting of another person's personal contact information (home phone numbers, home addresses, unpublished e-mail addresses, etc.) that is not already published in the QRZ callsign database.
  6. Attacking, bullying, or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have a right to disagree and attack an idea, but not the person. All disagreement must be respectfully waged. It is your responsibility to notify QRZ of disrespect, and not to challenge it yourself.
  7. Thread Poisoning, trolling, disruptive behavior - includes making off-topic remarks in a given subject to steer it into an inflammatory direction. Repeat offenders will be banned.
  8. Posting topics or discussions that do the site or the overall community harm. More specifically creating topics intended to disrupt the site's day to day management, disrupt members' resources, or disrupt the ability of the site to function normally.
  9. Posting of copyrighted material. If you wish to share an article from another site, it's important you post only a small excerpt of the content (less than 10%) with a link to the original. Posts containing only raw URL links without commentary will be deleted.
  10. SPAM - the posting of commercial advertisements in the QRZ forums is considered grounds for immediate banishment from the site. If you operate a small, ham oriented business then you may casually post and advertise your goods and services in the Ham Made Gear forum.
  11. Hidden Links - the surreptitious posting of images or other text which when clicked, takes action which may violate any of these rules.
  12. Defamatory Remarks - You are responsible for what you write. Should your comments libel or defame another person, you should be prepared to defend yourself should a lawsuit result. QRZ expressly disclaims any endorsement of your remarks.

Updates

Any situation not covered by these rules will be handled by the QRZ staff on a case-by-case basis. Frequent intervention by the administrators to correct such a problem can result in additional rules or changes to this document.
