Practice Test Formulations at QRZ Some folks have asked about how our practice tests are generated and so this document has been prepared to illustrate the process. The question pool is divided into subelements, each of which covers a particular subtopic. The Technician test requires 35 questions and there are 35 sub-pools (called subelements) from which they are chosen. A given test will therefore contain one question from each of the 35 sub-pools. Below is a copy of the Technican question pool. The chart is arranged in an array of 35 lines and a varying number of columns. A given test consists of one question from each line. Note that there are some missing questions on some lines for a given number. When a gap is encountered, another question is chosen at random for that line. For example, during test number 11, questions 1 and 2 are chosen at random. Some of the higher numbered tests (12, 13, 14) consist of mostly random questions due to the nature of the chart. All tests above number 14 are completely randomized. We hope this has helped you to understand how our practice tests are built.
